Western North Carolina Disaster Relief Raffle

Hurricane Helene, which formed in September 2024, devastated communities in western North Carolina. Helene brought significant rainfall and severe weather to the region. The storm initially made landfall on the southeastern coast of the United States, causing havoc in places like Florida and Alabama before moving inland.

As Helene progressed, the western part of North Carolina experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds, leading to flash floods and landslides. In areas around Asheville and surrounding counties, the impact was severe. Rivers swelled beyond their banks, inundating communities and causing extensive water damage to homes and businesses.

Roads became treacherous as mudslides obscured highways, making rescue efforts more challenging and isolating some communities. Emergency services worked tirelessly to respond to stranded residents, utilizing boats and heavy machinery to clear debris and floodwaters.

Power outages were widespread, with thousands of residents left without electricity for days. Emergency shelters opened to provide refuge for those who had lost their homes or were unable to return due to unsafe conditions. Schools were closed due to flooding, and many local events were canceled as the community grappled with the aftermath of the storm.

In addition to the immediate physical damage, the psychological toll on residents was significant. Many faced the daunting task of rebuilding their lives and homes while dealing with the fear and anxiety that such natural disasters can provoke.

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, MRK Creative Designs has decided to further contribute to the disaster relief efforts by holding a raffle, with all proceeds going to support the affected communities in Western North Carolina. While we have already donated supplies to help with immediate needs, it is clear that these communities will require significant financial assistance to rebuild and recover. Through this raffle, we aim to make a small but effective impact in addressing that need and supporting those who are striving to restore their lives in the wake of this disaster. Together, we can help bring hope and aid to those who have been affected by this natural disaster.
